Help Us

Daily Bread is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible.

There are three ways you can help us -- with gifts of cash, food or supplies, and time.

Gifts of Cash
Please consider giving cash donations. Ask your church or business to give an annual cash donation.

Gifts of cash allow us to:

  • Buy more food, because we can pool the cash to purchase in bulk and at a charity discount.
  • Buy foods not usually donated in the amounts we need, like meat, fresh vegetables, and fresh fruits.
  • Buy nonfood supplies.  For example, the Health Department requires us to use paper towels to dry dishes, which costs us about $400 per year.
  • Repair or replace equipment in the kitchen ($4,339 in 2015).
  • Pay the rent on the dining room ($4,200 in 2015).
  • Pay for building maintenance, utilities, insurance,   ($11,324 in 2015).

Gifts of Food
We need food weekly.  Fresh vegetables, fruits, and baked goods must be replenished often.  Meats are frozen. We would offer milk if we had a supplier.

Needs include:

1. Fresh foods — meats, cheese, produce (garden surplus is great!).

2. Non-perishable goods — if possible, large cans and /or low sodium.

  • green beans, peas, greens
  • beans, canned
  • dry pinto beans
  • potatoes
  • tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, pasta sauce
  • fruits, preferably without syrup or added sugar
  • meats and fish (e.g. tuna, salmon)
  • evaporated milk
  • pastas
  • self-rising flour and cornmeal
  • boxes of Jello
  • brown sugar
3. Paper towels - We go through lots to satisfy health officials!

4. Wax paper - Needed for Meals on Wheels preparation

5. Toilet paper - For the restrooms in our dining room

Please, no badly dented or badly rusted cans.

NOTE: Food past its "use by" date may be GOOD FOOD! Click here for more information.

Gifts of Time

We need volunteers to:

  • Prepare meals, serve, and clean in the dining room.
  • Deliver meals to homes.
  • Pick up food from donation sites.

We also need people to get involved in the organization, to help maintain RFDB so that we can continue our programs and grow to meet the need.

Ask your company to sponsor one or two volunteer-days per month, when employees take turns delivering meals, serving meals, or sorting food.
